Jon Jones Retains UFC Heavyweight Title with TKO Win Over Stipe Miocic

Jon Jones once again showed why he’s one of the best fighters in UFC history. On Saturday, November 16, he defeated Stipe Miocic with a third-round TKO to keep his heavyweight title at UFC 309. The fight took place at Madison Square Garden and was Jones’ first since winning the title in March 2023 against Cyril Gane.

This match was highly anticipated but delayed for over a year due to Jones’ injury. Miocic, meanwhile, hadn’t fought since 2021 when he lost the heavyweight belt to Francis Ngannou. Despite the long wait, Jones proved he was still at the top of his game.

After the fight, Jones took a moment to thank Jesus Christ and then hinted that his career isn’t over yet. “I decided maybe I will not retire. I have some conversations to have with Dana [White],” he said. “If everything goes right, maybe we’ll give you guys what you want to see.” Jones is rumored to be considering big fights against Alex Pereira or Tom Aspinall.

How the Fight Unfolded

From the start, Jones looked sharp. He landed hard kicks to Miocic’s body, forcing the challenger to back off. Soon, Jones got Miocic on the ground and started landing heavy elbows, cutting Miocic’s face. The first round clearly belonged to the champion.

In the second round, Miocic managed to keep the fight standing and landed some decent punches. However, Jones stayed in control, using his skill and experience to dominate most of the round.

The third round was more intense, with both fighters landing solid strikes. Miocic tried to push the fight into the later rounds, but Jones had other plans. A spinning kick to Miocic’s body hurt the challenger, and Jones quickly followed up with punches. The referee stepped in to stop the fight, giving Jones the win.

After his victory, Jones celebrated with a small dance and hinted that he might stick around for more exciting fights. At 37, the reigning champion continues to show why he’s one of the greatest ever. Fans now eagerly wait to see what’s next for “Bones” in the octagon
