Dave Coulier, known for his role as Uncle Joey on Full House, shared some tough news. The 65-year-old actor revealed he’s battling Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Coulier opened up about his diagnosis on the TODAY show and in an emotional episode of his podcast, Full House Rewind.
How It All Started
A month ago, Coulier felt under the weather and noticed a swollen lymph node in his groin. It didn’t feel normal. “I thought, ‘Something’s not right,’” he shared. After seeing his doctor, undergoing tests, and getting a biopsy, the results came back: Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.
Facing the Diagnosis
Dave Coulier admitted it felt like a punch in the stomach. “You always think it happens to someone else,” he said. But his wife, Melissa, has been his rock. She’s organized everything from his diet to doctor appointments. “She’s incredible,” Coulier said with gratitude.
Coulier is now undergoing chemotherapy. The first round was intense, but he’s staying strong. He even shaved his head as a “preemptive strike.” He joked that his new look makes him “look like a baby bird.”
Despite the challenges, Coulier remains positive. He’s keeping busy with his podcast and spending time with family and friends. His doctors are optimistic too, saying his curability rate is around 90%.
A Message to Others
Coulier hopes his story encourages people to prioritize their health. “Get screened,” he urged. “Early detection can make all the difference.”
With his wife, close friends, and fans cheering him on, Coulier is ready to fight. “This is a journey,” he said. “And I’m going to give it my all.”
