Ashlyn Harris has shared details about her divorce from Ali Krieger. The retired soccer star spoke about the split on the Naked Sports podcast. She called it the “hardest thing” she’s ever faced.
Harris said their marriage began to fall apart before the October 2023 divorce. She suggested an open marriage as a last attempt to save it. “That was my last try,” she said. “But I quickly realized it wasn’t me.”
A Strained Relationship
Harris admitted the lack of intimacy was a big issue. “My wife didn’t want to touch me,” she said. “I felt so embarrassed and ashamed.” She said she didn’t feel like a priority. “It was soccer, work, kids, and then me.”
She also struggled emotionally. “I became very good at disassociating,” Harris shared. “I suffered in silence for a long time.”
Why She Left
Harris moved out in the summer of 2023. She said she didn’t want her children to feel the effects of the unhappy marriage. “I didn’t want to push my shame and insecurity onto them,” she said.
She denied rumors that she cheated with actress Sophia Bush. “I’m constantly pegged as a cheater, but that’s not true,” Harris said.
Moving On
Both Harris and Krieger are now in new relationships. Harris is dating Sophia Bush. Krieger has also moved on.
Harris said she’s focused on healing. “I had to take my power back,” she said. “I won’t compromise my self-worth again.”
The couple, who married in 2019, were together for nearly four years. They share two children, Sloane, 3, and Ocean, 2. Both are now focused on building happier futures.
